Our trip to Paradise:

Diether does correct me on this : the location is Paradise Valley, north of Winnemucca.

It is an expansive valley surrounded by high mountains, snow capped mountains, green grass covered valley, scattered ranches, cows and calves.

The valley floor is so very grassy green, it seems like SciFi. We are looking at a valley in Northern Nevada, one Valley over from BlackRockDesert.

We had booked one night in The Stone House Inn, the bed and breakfast in the valley, also serving dinner, a lovely estate, with trees and brooks, our room had a private bathroom, the water there is soft, and plenty full. The brook was running right under the bedrooms and the bathroom windows.

The scenery of the high mountains and the fertile valley floor is awesome, this is the only word I can think of to describe this beauty. The other guests struggled as much as I did with words to describe this conflicting beauty.

Dinner was great, Sue and Claudia invited us into the kitchen to check the spices for MSG, Diether is so allergic too, and prepared all of his food cleanly without any. They served cocktails before dinner and spoiled us rotten.

After a great night's sleep, there were 2 larger groups at the inn and no noise, and a light continental breakfast with good coffee, we went on out way to explore Chimney Reservoir.

Diether putting our overnight bags into the Wrangler, me trotting the usual 3 feet behind, announced: we got a flat tire.

Diether: what do you mean, a flat tire.

Well: a flat tire, there was NO air in the left hind tire, but a rusted nail, and I think, I know, where we picked it up.

Before dinner, we went explore and stopped in the Paradise Valley Pub. We met the local alpha alpha sales man, and the farmer who plants it, 70 miles north, the keeper of the pub, originally from San Jose.

The building is old, sometimes there are rusted nails coming down from old roofs...

No worries, Claudia's husband has a work shop and a jack and put the spare on in no time, even got the compressor out to refill the spare, also alerting us to a potential problem with the spare.

So we changed the route, went straight into Winnemucca to get the tire fixed, had lunch in the Casino and went on to rye patch, postponing the Chimney Reservoir to a later time.

We enjoyed our canyon, went for walks and returning to fix dinner in the trailer, Diether announces, we have low tire pressure and better get back to town.

So we started our short trip back, not without stopping at the gas stations on the way to pressurizes the tire.

It is amazing how poorly the service has become, the air stations did not work, were vandalized and not put back in order.

So we went onwards, back to Reno. And shortly before Fernly, the road turned really bumpy for a few seconds and the tire blew. Diether pulled the car over safely and we tried to change out the tire again, the now spare had been fixed in Winnemucca. But with the tire blown out, the car was so low, the jack did not fit. I could not find a flashlight.... Diether called AAA, and after a long conversation with the dispatcher and highway numbers, I had not heard off before, Diether assured me, that the AAA truck, would be here in about 35 minutes.

And to my total surprise, the AAA truck was there, found us no problem ( Diether had turned the hazard lights on ) and had the spare exchanged in minutes.

Next morning, Diether called around for new tiers, we had discussed them earlier, but a rusted nail would have done the same trick on old or new.

Anyhow, Walmart was open and had the tiers, Diether asked for, 6plies and reinforced sides. We drive dirt, we need beefed up tiers.

After standing in line at Walmart, the tiers could not be found on the computer, so the gentleman, who helped us walked through the warehouse and assured us, that he had the tiers. But the computer could not release them and when I asked about the specs, the answer was they fit. So we excused ourselves ( ran )

We saw open bays at Firestone and the attendant there sold us tiers by knowing the specs, double steel mesh, nylon......and alignment.

After mentioning new tiers to our son, he jokingly asked what did ya get? Duelers.

And guess what, yes we did.

Now on a sis remark: the nurse we met in Paradise recommended a dentist and a couple doctors, I am still contemplating to call, but I am not superstitious, or am I becoming so?
